White Stripes - White Winehouse Is Underappreciated

WHITE STRIPES frontman JACK WHITE has hit out at the crowds at Glastonbury music festival who booed AMY WINEHOUSE - insisting the troubled star deserves to be treated with more respect.

The Back To Black hitmaker took to the stage at the legendary British event on Saturday (28Jun08), playing to a crowd of 75,000.

But Winehouse was forced to endure boos and jeers from the audience after she paid tribute to her incarcerated husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

And White, who witnessed the upset, insists that the crowd should have been more grateful for her appearance.

He says, "Amy's a treasure. She's the Janis Joplin of this generation. The crowd don't appreciated her."
